For the past 24hrs, the Russians wounded nine civilians in the Donetsk region, including four children. Also, on April 30, three deaths in Mariupol were confirmed, but the exact number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha is now impossible to establish.
In the temporarily occupied Melitopol, residents continue to resist – unidentified individuals put up leaflets saying, “Melitopol is Ukraine” at night. However, the occupiers continue to impose new rules in the city – the Russians have begun to buy grain at half the price, and if the farmers refuse to sell, the grain is taken away by force.
At least 623 children have fallen victims to the Russian armed aggression: 219 children were killed, and more than 404 were injured.
For the past 24hrs, the Russian occupation forces have shelled residential areas of cities and villages of the Luhansk region 19 times. As a result, 12 more houses became uninhabitable. One man is currently known to have died in settlement of Novodruzhesk.
“Occupiers Against Ukrainian Fertilizers” – the Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaly Kim, published a photo of an explosion in the Mykolaiv area. According to Kim, Russian troops aimed at the saltpeter depots; the air in the area is clean.
Russian occupants shelled Kharkiv three times in a day: Saltivka, Pyatyhatky neighbourhoods, and the airport area were hit – reports the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Synehubov. In the morning, the invaders shelled the Derhachiv municipality again; one casualty was reported.
Russian occupation forces cut off the fiber-optic backbone lines and cut off the power supply to equipment of mobile operators and the Internet connection in the Kherson region and the part of the Zaporizhzhia region, reported the State Agency of Special Communication.
After another offense undertaken by Ukrainian forces on Snake Island, the Russian fleet intensified its operations. Russian amphibious speedboats tried to evacuate and replenish the personnel of their units remaining on the island.
Russian occupiers have already transported several hundred thousand tons of grain to Russia from the temporarily occupied territories in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports.
The Russians shelled Synelnykove municipality in the Dnipropetrovsk region. A private residence was hit, and a woman was wounded.
Reuters reports that more than 50 civilians were evacuated from the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol in a convoy of vehicles bearing United Nations insignia. The people were taken to the village of Bezimenne in an area of Donetsk under the control of Russian occupation forces.
The media reported that Valeriy Gerasimov, the Chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, was allegedly wounded in Ukraine, near Izyum in the Kharkiv region.
Investigators from the Conflict Intelligence Team reported that Russian Defense Ministry and National Guard of Russia planes were spotted near the Ukrainian border in the Russian city Belgorod on April 30. And on May 1, they were joined by another Ministry of Defense aircraft and two Mi-8 transport helicopters escorted by Ka-52 attack helicopters.
According to CIT, one of the helicopters brought Gerasimov, who soon left for Moscow by plane. Gerasimov is reported to be alive and well.
Advisor to the Mayor of Mariupol Petro Andriushchenko said that the Russian occupation forces started circulating Russian propaganda newspapers in Mariupol.
Soldiers from Mariupol informed that evacuating civilians from Azovstal steelworks was an extremely difficult task. Soldiers are also hoping to evacuate severely wounded military personnel: “They need proper care, decent food, painkillers, bandages. Their evacuation is being discussed, but no details are known. We know and hope that the process has not stalled and talks are in progress. We hope they will be taken to safety.”
The occupiers began shelling Azovstal steelworks again as soon as the evacuation of some Ukrainians was over. The commander of the 12th operational brigade of the National Guard, Denys Shleha, who is now in Mariupol, told this on TV news.
Before that, the Russians had complied with the ceasefire for two days. According to the commander, the occupiers are again shelling the plant with all kinds of weapons.
