Presence of Russian troops on sovereign territory of Azerbaijan Republic is a destabilizing factor – Kochevenko

“Regularly repeated attacks on Azerbaijani servicemen from the territories controlled by the so-called Russian peacekeepers demonstrate the inability or unwillingness of the Russian Federation to enforce the agreements reached. It is possible that the Kremlin is directly involved in these provocations in order to destabilize the situation in the region. The presence of Russian troops on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan is thus a destabilizing rather than stabilizing factor. Only the return of all previously occupied territories to Baku’s full control will ensure peace and development in the region”.
“Yerevan should give up any revanchist intentions and honour its commitments within the framework of the reached agreements. This is in the interest of Armenia itself.
The territory of Azerbaijan, within its internationally recognized borders, is inviolable. And Azerbaijan has full international support in defending its territorial integrity. The sooner Armenia accepts this fact, the sooner it will be able to build friendly relations with all its neighbors, which is an absolutely necessary condition for its peaceful and prosperous development,” the expert said.
According to him, only the return of all previously occupied territories under Baku’s full control would ensure peace and development in the region.
