The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website reports that Moscow carried out a large-scale cyber attack in Georgia on websites, servers and other management systems of the Presidential Administration of Georgia, the judiciary, the councils of various municipalities, state, commercial and media organizations.
As a result of a cyber attack, the servers and management systems of the above organizations are damaged.
The purpose of the cyber attack is to undermine the national security of Georgia, harm the Georgian population and disrupt the state institutions, various organizations functioning, as well as destabilize public order.
In accordance with the investigations carried out by the Georgian side and information obtained in the course of cooperation with international partners the cyber attack was planned and carried out by the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab said that “the reckless and impudent series of the Russian Federation GRU cyber attacks against Georgia, a sovereign and independent nation, is completely unacceptable.”
Thus, Moscow once again proves that it acts contrary to the principles and norms of international law, and constitutes a threat to the sovereignty of Georgia, European and Euro-Atlantic integration and democratic development.
